Aerial Mapping and Photogrammetry Services
Aerial Survey, Photo, and Mapping Services
UTEK Aerial Surveys Company is a multi-disciplinary aerial photography and mapping company, serving engineering firms, the mining industry, architectural firms, real-estate developers, as well as municipal, state, and local governments. We provide consultant and project management services for aerial mapping projects and are heavily involved in infrastructure, mining, energy, environmental, and land development.
State-of-the-Art Equipment
UTEK Aerial’s survey flying division utilizes a turbocharged Cessna 206. This aircraft carries a Leica RC-30 first-order metric aerial camera system.
This system is equipped with both forward motion compensation (FMC) as well as a sophisticated gyro-stabilizing mount allowing us to compensate for any angular aircraft movement resulting in a superior image quality. When calibrated, it has been noted by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) that this camera system has one of the highest-rated lenses available, which ensures you’re getting the clearest photo possible.
UTEK Aerial has developed valuable relationships throughout the world allowing us to fly sites globally for mapping projects of any size. Our east coast office utilizes a variety of regional partners to acquire imagery of the same superior quality.
Upon request, a Digital Oblique Image (DOI) can be taken of the project site using a high-resolution handheld digital camera. The DOI Images can be e-mailed on the same day of flight, ensuring you have immediate access to your photos. These images can be enlarged to 24" x 36" without losing visual clarity.
Remote Sensing
ADS40, DMC, and Vexcel sensors are available to us for producing true 6”, 12 bit, 4-band multi-spectral data (red, green, blue, and near infrared) with a quick turnaround time. All of these systems allow us to produce corrected, geo-referenced, and radiometrically enhanced imagery. These systems are mounted in a plane with airborne GPS to tie in real world coordinates and a gyro-mount for vertical stabilization. With our additional post processing, this data can be rectified to controlled ground data for horizontal accuracy needs and used to create thematic classifications, all of which is GIS ready.
UTEK Aerial’s Survey Flight Services Include
- Photogrammetric mapping services (Stereo Imagery Flights)
- Imaging flights (Oblique’s and Vertical imagery flights)
- Township, borough, City, County, and State wide Ortho Projects
- Emergency Observation Flight Operations: Observe disasters, such as fires, to get aerial view of damage.
- Geographic Information System / Facilities Management: Geographic Information System (GIS) is a collection of spatial and non-spatial data that is joined together while Facilities Management (FM) consists of building maintenance.
When selecting an aerial survey company, you want one that can do it all – fly, take photos, develop images, and email them – all under one roof. Our chief pilot and photographer each have over 20 years of experience. Together this means UTEK Aerial Surveys gives you the absolute best in aerial survey services.

Digital and Laser Photogrammetry
Our softcopy photogrammetry department is one of the most skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced in the nation. UTEK Aerial Surveys Co. has the capability to manage and execute projects of nearly unlimited scope in a timely manner. We are a leading mapping photogrammetry company, specializing in:
- Real time photogrammetry
- Photogrammetry accident reconstruction
- Remote sensing
- Photogrammetry surveying
- Erosion control
- Spherical photogrammetry
- GPS & IMU
A series of strict quality control checks throughout the production process ensure that all digital mapping projects meet or exceed National Map Accuracy Standards.
Soft Copy Aero-triangulation
Once a project has been flown and control has been received, the next step is softcopy aero-triangulation. In this process the ground control is enhanced with the generation of additional stereo points through our softcopy aero-triangulation software. This program enables us to verify the ground control as well as set up the project for mapping. The tolerances of the aero-triangulation program are dependent on map scale and are stricter than National Map Accuracy Standards. Therefore, the project does not proceed until these strict quality control guidelines are met.
Over the years we have completed thousands of projects ranging from one and two stereo models to those containing over 400 stereo models. We also perform this service for other mapping firms throughout the United States.
Stereo Compilation
Photogrammetric mapping is compiled on soft copy stereo plotters in order to provide clients with superior quality aerial mapping. Photogrammetry is the process of determining 3-dimensional coordinate using stereo photography of a site. This allows us to create a mapping product or 3d rendering using digital photogrammetric techniques. This process can also be used to produce planimetric and topographic maps accurately based on ground control provided by professional land surveyors. UTEK Aerial is continually upgrading the computer systems and software on which our plotters operate.
